UK Weahter Update

Unseasonably cold conditions to come across the UK this weekend after a quick warm up this week. Mainly unsettled and showery but not as unsettled as recently.

Today will see the sunniest weather in the north and southwest, mainly cloudy elsewhere.

Today:

Scotland, especially the north and west, will have a fine and rather warm day. Southwest England and West Wales will also see plenty of sunshine and it will feel warm especially in any sunshine with lights winds. Elsewhere it will be rather cloudy with a few showers in the southeast later. Maximum Temperatures 13-17c
Rather heavy, thundery rain will move into the southeast of England and reach the southwest and south Wales by midnight. Elsewhere, cloudy in the east but clearer to the west.
Thursday:
Outbreaks of rain are expected from East Anglia down to the south Midlands and southern parts of England. Cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain in much of the south and later in the north of Scotland. Elsewhere, cloudy near eastern coasts but sunnier in the west. Maximum Temperatures 12-16c

Friday

Colder today. Continued rather cloudy across much of England and Wales with some outbreaks of patchy light rain. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be dry with the best the sunshine once again. All parts dry this evening with a cold night ahead producing a widespread frost in many areas. High temperatures today of 7 to 13 Celsius.

I will have a detailed bank holiday forecast on Friday but turning chilly this weekend with showers for many areas.

UK Weather Update

Unsettled with sunny spells and showers continuing

Friday 
A number of showers again are expected to develop as we go through the morning, perhaps with a few heavy ones across cardigan bay and the north western parts of Wales and also across Scotland. Showers tend to become more widespread in the afternoon but interspersed with some dry, sunnier spells. Maximum temperatures today of 8 to 12c.
Further outbreaks of rain and showers across Scotland, East Anglia and the southeast this evening but then most parts of the country will have a dry night with patchy clear spells. Frost will develop in some places by morning.

Saturday
Mostly sunny morning to come, but scattered showers will start to affect most places. Risk of some showers for everyone during the afternoon. Again interspersed with some dry, sunnier spells. Most of the shower will clear during the evening and rather cold again tonight with some pockets of frost. Maximum temperatures today of 9 to 13c.

Sunday
Mainly dry with sunny spells across England and Wales this morning, heavy showers affect Northern Ireland and Scotland. Once again in the afternoon, sunny spells and occasional showers across much of the country. Most showers will die away by evening. Rain spreads across Northern Ireland, into southwest England and West Wales during the course of the night. Maximum temperatures of 10 to 15c.


Monday
Some rain to come for South West England and South Wales. Broken cloud and heavy showers over the rest of the country, some of these thundery and of hail.  Highs at 9 to 11C.

Tuesday
Another unsettled day for all areas. There will be sunny spells at first, but showers will be forming quickly and some of these are going to become heavy at times. Highs at 10 to 13C.


Wednesday to Friday
A continuation of the generally unsettled pattern is likely for much of the period. Persistent rain is expected across many areas on Wednesday and Thursday, particularly across southern areas, with the best of any brightness across western Scotland. Showers and sunshine are expected to continue with the showers will be heavy at times with a risk of hail and thunder, with southern and eastern parts most prone to longer spells of rain.

Sunny spells and showers continuing and then chilly and unsettled conditions on the way next week

April Showers

Sorry about the lack of posts in recent days, been really busy and just haven't had enough time to update.
Friday

A frosty start in many rural areas then another day of sunshine and showers. Showers will be heavy and locally thundery in the south, especially over southwest England and south Wales, and lighter but increasingly wintry in the north. Maximum Temperatures of 8-14c

Friday night

Still some showers across Wales and south west England. Elsewhere it becomes dry and clear. Most areas will have a cold, dry night with a widespread frost by morning but maybe the south staying frost free. Expect minimum temperatures of -2 to 3 Celsius.

Saturday

Showers less widespread than recent days, but still likely to be wintry over Scotland and parts of northern England. Plenty of sunny periods but feeling colder. Some of these will be of snow over the high ground in the north. During this evening most of the shower activity will die away again which will lead to a dry, clear, cold night with a frost by morning. Maximum Temperatures of 7 to 11c.

Sunday
A windier day however dry weather for much of the country throughout the day with lots of sunny spells but maybe the north east seeing a few light showers. Winds will increase in the west tonight with outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Dry tonight across England and most of Wales with a frost across central and southern England. Maximum of 7-11c.

Outlook for start of next week
Bright for many on Monday but heavy rain in Northern Ireland, spreading to all areas overnight. Windy with frequent showers on Tuesday. Showers continuing on Wednesday but with lighter winds. Temp 7-12c

UK Weather Update

Big change on the way and snow is back in the forecast

You can't imagine after last weeks warmth, that some places could see snowfall this week but in some places this might well happen as winter returns Tuesday.

Today

A cold, fine and frosty start to the day, however the far north of Scotland will see some outbreaks of rain with scattered showers expected across western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Everywhere else will be mainly sunny with maximum temperatures today of 10 to 13 Celsius.

Monday

Cold with snow expected across northern parts of Scotland today. Showers are expected across southern Scotland and even into parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland at times. The south coast may escape with a dry day. Rain and snow will arrive in southern Scotland into northern England during the evening and night with rain into North Wales. Top temperatures of 9 to 14 Celsius.

Tuesday to Thursday

Colder Tuesday as rain, sleet and snow spreads south, accompanied by brisk winds. Hard
widespread frost Tuesday night. Cold and windy again Wednesday with wintry showers. Cloudy Thursday with some light rain in the west. For Tuesday, High temperatures in a range of 3 to 13 Celsius but a big drop of temperatures later in the day in the south. Wednesday and Thursday, 5-9c.

So a big drop in temperature this week and for some places, a 13-15c drop in temperature from last week and turning more unsettled with some rain for the drought hit areas. How long will the unsettled weather last? I'll keep you updated in the coming days.

UK Weather Update

Dry, Warm and Sunny

The summery weather will continue this week across nearly all parts of the UK with clear skies and temperatures in the high teens or low twenties. However, places along the edge of the East coast may see low cloud and fog at times resulting in temperatures not getting above 8c.

Today will be starting chilly, with areas of mist and fog mainly affecting eastern England and the Scottish Lowlands. It will soon become fine across the UK, with many seeing unbroken warm sunshine, with the northeast in particular again becoming exceptionally warm. Temperatures 17-22c

Tonight:

Dry and clear overnight, allowing the temperature to fall away once more to give a slight frost in places. Further fog patches may form in eastern England by dawn.

Tuesday:

Any early fog will soon clear to give another warm, dry and sunny day. It may feel a little cooler in parts of the southwest, with brisk easterly winds. Temperatures 17-22c

Wednesday to Friday:

Dry and fine conditions and warm sunshine until Friday but these will gradually be replaced from the north by cooler and more cloudier weather, with an increasing chance of light rain in the far north. Still some sunny spells in the south towards the weekend but more cloud and feeling cooler with a fresh NW wind. Temperatures 17-22c Wednesday and Thursday 10-16c Friday

UK Weather Update

Mainly, Dry settled and fair.

Wednesday 

Light rain across northern Scotland and maybe parts of the south west at times, much of the country will be fair and dry but cloud amounts will be high. As the day progresses there will be some breaks allowing a few sunny spells across eastern areas of England and Scotland. This will be followed by a dry afternoon and more sunshine developing. Maximum temperatures of 10 to 15c.

Thursday 

Most places will be dry today, but once again across southwest England and southern Wales there may be patchy spells of rain in the morning and in the afternoon, but where the rain will be is currently uncertain so some may get a damp day but others staying dry. Best of any sunshine today is likely to be across Scotland and north east England again. Maximum temperatures of 11 to 16c

Friday 
Any rain will tend to fade away but Wales could see a few showers in the afternoon. Dry across all of England with sunny spells. Showers will fade away this evening and where any lengthy clear spells occur, we could see a slight frost. Maximum temperatures of 11 to 16c.

For the weekend, Saturday will see most of the country fair and dry with sunny spells and it will be very mild or many.  Highs of 14 to 19C. Sunday will be another very mild/warm across the country. It will be dry with lengthy sunny spells for many, maybe some low cloud at times on eastern coasts. Highs of 15 to 19C.

UK Weather Update

Becoming, cooler and more unsettled this week but high pressure returning again as next week progresses

The weekend looks to turn more unsettled and it will feel cooler with spells of rain at times. 

Today, Rain across Northern Ireland and Scotland reaching western Wales and parts of northern England by evening. Otherwise a cloudy start but turning brighter with some sunny spells developing. Also becoming drier and brighter across the northwest later. Tonight, Rain spreading to much of England and Wales, although some central and southeastern parts staying dry. Scotland and Northern Ireland largely dry and chilly, although showers possible in the northwest.

Saturday:

Outbreaks of rain across England and Wales gradually clearing eastwards through the day. Cooler conditions, with a mixture of sunshine and occasionally heavy showers following from the north and west.

Outlook till tuesday

A mix of sunshine and showers on Sunday. Mostly fine Monday after a chilly start, although rain likely in the northwest and this will gradually spread southeast through Tuesday. 

Tuesday onwards

High pressure then rebuilds in across the country as next week progresses with much of the country dry and settled. With an easterly/south easterly wind set to develop, western parts of the country may have the best of the sunshine this time with cloudier conditions in the East. Light winds will return and so will the mild temperatures and feeling very pleasant in any sunshine.
